The size of island and the required overhang required two slabs and one seam. It was decided the seam would be along the back edge of the cook top. The location left the seam exposed only on the left and right.
Once the seam was decided upon the next challenge was how to get the huge slab into the house and positioned to lay on the cabinetry. The home had an uneven entrance and several turn were required to navigate the floor plan. After great debate and a few run throughs with dollies made to transport granite it was decided to build our own. The new dollie system had a center pivot point that allowed for the turning of the oversized slab within rather tight quarters.
Once the decisions were made the Emrich Team put the plan into action and performed flawlessly. The counter top was installed in a little less than three hours and the seam turned out perfectly.
The finished product was truly stunning.
